Biography

As the Chief Business Officer for the College of Public Health (CPH), Anthony Piantieri is pivotal in guiding the College's financial and operational strategies toward a future marked by innovation and excellence. Responsible for overseeing all business functions, including financial planning, revenue generation, technology integration, and the development of new ventures, Piantieri plays a crucial role in shaping short- and long-term strategic plans to expand programs and partnerships in alignment with the CPH's mission and vision.

Piantieri’s career in the operations and finance industries spans over two decades, marked by significant tenures in both the private and public sectors. Before joining George Mason in August 2024, he was at the helm of operations and finance strategies as the Chief Financial Officer for the Business and Support Services Division (MR) for the United States Marine Corps presiding over $1.5 billion in assets, $1.3 billion in annual revenue, and over $2 billion in investments. Preceding this role, he held many pivotal positions directing fiscal operations at the United Federation of Teachers and various eminent public and non-profit organizations.

Piantieri is an alumnus of the State University at Albany, from where he acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance, establishing the foundation of his expertise in financial stewardship and operations management.

Currently, Piantieri continues to provide financial expertise to the non-profit sector, serving on the board of a housing and health organization in Philadelphia. He is passionate about civil service and prides himself on being a part of the George Mason family. He lives in Virginia with his wife, Melissa.
