The College of Public Health’s Career Advising team is committed to providing career advising, internship, and job support for undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.

Whether you are a freshman exploring the public health field, or a graduate planning for post-graduation, we will tailor our meetings to suit your needs.

Meet Your Career Advisor

Raven McCormick serves as the Assistant Director for Career Development, where she is dedicated to creating a supportive environment for students as they navigate their college experience and embark on their professional journeys. She joined the college in April 2020 and brings a wealth of experience from her previous role in Disability Services, where she primarily supported students with Autism diagnoses.

Originally from Chicago, IL, Raven relocated to the East Coast in 2014 to pursue her undergraduate degree in Psychology, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling Education from George Mason University. She aspires to further her academic career by pursuing a PhD in Education in the near future.

Raven is passionate about assisting students in securing internships, jobs, and advancing their careers.

9/28/23 Rising Healthcare Leaders @ Mason presents Inova Career Day 

5:30-8 pm | Peterson Hall Lobby 

All students from the College of Public Health are invited to attend Inova Career Day. This is a networking and professional development event. Students will have the chance to network with Inova job recruiters, connect with some of Inova’s senior leadership, meet the MHA Advisory Board Members, have a chance to get their resume reviewed, and enjoy light dinner and giveaways.

10/11/23 Fairfax/Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB)

10 am - 2 pm | @ Community Service Board

CPH students will take a field trip to the CSB to explore the Mobile Crisis Unit, Addiction Medicine Clinic, and network with employers. Students will have a unique opportunity to visit the Fairfax/Falls Church Community Services Board at the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health October 11thfrom 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm to learn about career opportunities in the behavioral health field. Students will receive a private tour of the Mobile Crisis Unit, Addiction Medicine Clinic, as well network with potential employers. Space is limited and an RSVP  is required as transportation will be provided. All majors are welcome!
 

10/17/23 UVA Health Day

10 am-2 pm | Peterson Hall Lobby 

UVA Health is hosting an in-person hiring event targeted towards those seeking opportunities to start their careers. Hiring officials will be conducting on the spot interviews. Students will be able to play board games, enjoy the Kona Ice Truck, and network while learning about full-time, part-time, and PRN shifts that are available. Please be sure to bring a resume! All Majors are welcome!
