Welcome Nicholas Field-Johnson, Associate Director of Development

The College of Public Health is pleased to welcome Nicholas Field-Johnson as the College’s Associate Director of Development. With over 25 years of noteworthy fundraising experience, including 10 years of experience in higher education, Nicholas will develop fundraising strategies and engage major donors in support of the College’s philanthropy goals. 

Nicholas Field-Johnson has over twenty-five years of extensive US, UK and international experience in fundraising, he has led and motivated young teams to deliver successful fundraising projects. He has spent the last eight years working in higher education for the University of Oxford in Development as well as in the USA. Previously lived ten years in USA, eight of which was in Los Angeles.

Over the last ten years, he worked as a fund-raiser for Oxford University. Initially, he worked as a Board Member for the Oxford Maths Institute to raise £70m ($90m) from leading UK and international hedge funds and then as Head of Development at the Department for Continuing Education, Oxford University. He led and was responsible for the Department’s fundraising and had a portfolio of six and seven figure donors which included: Corporations, Foundations, High Net Worth individuals and Alumni.  In the last year, he has worked in Montana to raise funds for healthcare and medical programs - particularly from Foundations and Corporations.

He was also a member of the European Harvard Business School fund-raising team which was responsible for raising over US$500m for HBS. He was a Senior Partner at Fraser Finance for over 20 years, a leading London financial advisory firm, responsible for the overall management and fundraising for the firm. Previously he was Head of Private Placement at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London and was responsible for fund-raising and investment management covering the UK and International markets. He worked with both large and small organizations in Europe and USA and have developed significant contacts across various industries – particularly in California and Silicon Valley.

He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School as well as an MA/BA from Oxford University (PPE).  He is married with three sons and loves to travel, a keen horse rider and loves to cook.
