CHHS Awards Scholarships to 34 Nursing Students

The College of Health and Human Services has selected 34 School of Nursing students to receive scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year.

“Without a doubt, this scholarship will play a key role in achieving my educational dreams. [This scholarship has] lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the important aspect of school – learning,” said Amira Chamma, a BSN student and scholarship recipient. “I am committed to my education and to the health care field, and one step closer to becoming a nurse thanks to [this] generosity.”

All of the $186,950 in scholarship funds were provided from donors to fund scholarships for students based on merit, while some were also based on financial need.

“It is the ongoing generosity of our donors that help make it possible to continue to provide scholarship support to our students,” said Thomas Prohaska, dean of the College of Health and Human Services. “Their commitment to support the educational endeavors of our students demonstrates the importance of ensuring our students are not limited in their educational pursuits.”
