NIH grant fuels George Mason researcher’s advances in AI storytelling for dementia care.

Scientists, nurses, and researchers in George Mason University’s College of Public Health (CPH) have successfully progressed to the third phase of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) program studying a broad range of early life exposures on child health.

Jenna Krall, associate professor, and an interprofessional George Mason team, received funding for the project: “Housing insecurity, heat, and health: A coalition for resiliency.”

Funding will advance research on children’s health using data from the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes  (ECHO) program

George Mason University scientists, nurses, and researchers in the College of Public Health have just entered the second cycle of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) program called Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO).

With the grant,College of Public Health professor Y. Alicia Hong and an interdisciplinary team aim to improve caregiving skills, reduce social distress, and improve quality of life for caregivers. 

Faculty members Holly Matto, Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, Stephanie Carmack, and Nathalia Peixoto, and graduate student Matthew Scherbel, are working with Brightline Interactive to examine the effects of recovery cues, using virtual reality simulations, on neurophysiological regulation to prevent drug relapse.
