Public Health, Minor

The 18-credit minor in public health offers students the opportunity to study concepts and principles related to disease prevention, health promotion, and injury control. The minor provides students with a basic understanding of each of the core areas of public health, introduces students to career opportunities in the fields of global and community health, and prepares students for admission to graduate programs in public health.

Who Should Minor in Public Health?

The minor is designed for students who are interested in learning more about the growing field of public health. The minor will add value to any major, but it is particularly relevant to students majoring in biology, communication, environmental science, health administration and policy, nursing, public administration, psychology, social work, and sociology. The minor may also provide a competitive advantage for students interested in pursuing advance studies such as law, medicine, and nursing.
