Departments throughout the College offer opportunities to study public health in an interdisciplinary environment. Students gain the skills and knowledge required to pursue a variety of public health careers globally and locally.

Health Services Research, PhD

This multidisciplinary doctoral program focuses on analytical and data-driven methods for examination of the social, political, economic and technological forces that affect the organization, financing, delivery and regulation of health care services and public health systems. The Health Services Research PhD offers two concentrations:

  • Health Systems and Policy
  • Knowledge Discovery and Health Informatics 

 

Public Health, PhD

The PhD in Public Health prepares graduates to think critically as public health scientists, develop subject matter expertise and analytical skills to become successful independent researchers, and respond to the most pressing public health challenges facing Virginia, the nation, and the world. The PhD in Public Health offers two concentrations:

  • Epidemiology
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences
     

Master of Public Health (MPH)

The MPH is designed for students who wish to practice public health locally or globally. Our curriculum provides grounding in the competencies needed to be a successful public health practitioner. Graduates are equipped to address the most pressing and emerging health problems with training in one of six concentrations.

MS, Global Health

The MS in Global Health prepares students to conduct multidisciplinary research on health issues of global importance. Students complete coursework on these issues as well as in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods.

BS, Community Health

Community, global, and public health are the fastest-growing, most exciting, and versatile areas of study on college campuses across the United States today.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Community Health at Mason prepares students to protect and improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities, and populations—locally and globally—by developing and implementing evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs and policies. 

Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's Programs - Bachelor's Degree (any) / Public Health, Accelerated MPH 

Public Health Certificate

The Public Health Graduate Certificate allows students to take public health coursework on topics of interest without committing to a full degree program. The Public Health Certificate offers two concentrations:

  • Generalist
  • Leadership and Management.
