58 undergraduate students presented during the Celebration of Scholarship
The College of Health and Human Services presented its second annual Celebration of Undergraduate Scholarship on April 22.
The event showcases research and scholarly projects from undergraduate students in CHHS or undergraduate students who are working with CHHS faculty and/or graduate student mentors.
Research projects included analysis of primary or secondary quantitative or qualitative data. Scholarly projects included other individual or group projects that examined theories or the application of principles and concepts used within the discipline to address a current challenge or social problem.
Fifty-eight students presented 19 projects during the event. Topics included associations between alcohol outlet types and sexually transmitted infections, administering advance directives, children and homelessness, childhood obesity and its impact on bone mineral content, and the physical activities of residents in a Hispanic senior housing community, among several other topics.
The event was organized by CHHS faculty members Cathy Tompkins and Corrie Paeglow. Eight CHHS faculty served as reviewers for the program: John Cantiello, Constance Gewa, Emily Ihara, N. Lynn Gerber, Jeffrey Herrick, Corrie Paeglow, Cathy Tompkins, and Ali Weinstein.
