Biography

Dr. Jennifer M. Rickerby is a distinguished Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Educator, boasting an illustrious career spanning over 30 years.  Dr. Rickerby is passionate about upholding a high standard of care with a child health focus.

As a seasoned educator, she has served as a devoted instructor at all levels of nursing practice, from BSN to DNP.

Dr. Rickerby's educational journey includes a Bachelor in Science of Nursing from SUNY Brockport (1994), a Masters of Science in Nurse Education from Liberty University (2016), and the completion of her Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctoral of Nursing Practice at George Mason University in 2019. Her doctoral project focused on cultural competency in adolescent health. Currently, she is furthering her expertise with a Psych Mental Health Post Grad Certificate at George Mason University.

In the academic realm, Dr. Rickerby has been a Professor at George Mason University since January 2016, delivering didactic instruction in BSN and MSN programs. Additionally, she serves as MAP Clinical Faculty for BSN and MSN students, showcasing her leadership in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. MAP clinic serves vulnerable and underserved communities surround GMU. Her commitment to enhancing healthcare for underprivileged and minority populations is evident in both her work and research interests.

Dr. Jennifer M. Dr. Rickerby has devoted herself to shaping the future of nursing practice at every level, from BSN to DNP. Her educational journey, began at SUNY Brockport where she completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing in 1994 to the completion of her Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctor of Nursing Practice at George Mason University in 2019, reflects a relentless pursuit of knowledge and expertise. Notably, her doctoral project delved into the crucial realm of cultural competency in adolescent health, underlining her commitment to understanding and addressing the unique needs of diverse populations.

Currently expanding her horizons, in May 2024, Dr. Rickerby will complete a Post-Graduate Certificate at George Mason University focusing on licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), a testament to her enduring dedication to staying at the forefront of nursing practice. Within the academic domain, she has been teaching at George Mason University since January 2016, delivering impactful didactic instruction in both undergraduate and graduate levels. Furthermore, her role as Clinical Faculty in the Mason and Partners (MAP) Clinics showcase her leadership in nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
