Biography

Dr. David J. Reynen, an adjunct faculty member in the College of Public Health at George Mason University, teaches within the Public Health Practice concentration, drawing on his many years in the public health field (from 1994 to the present). Currently in his work, Reynen provides scientific and administrative leadership to multiple teams of scientists working on maternal and perinatal epidemiology, adolescent health, public health surveillance/data visualization, and federal reporting to both the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Earlier in his public health career, Reynen co-founded and managed a state-level acute stroke registry/quality improvement program, conducted chronic-disease-related research and surveillance activities, carried out formal program evaluations related to child and adolescent health, and provided scientific consultation in the area of tobacco control.

Reynen's professional areas of greatest interest include public health leadership, family health, disease prevention and control, healthy aging, and access to care. In these areas, he has authored or co-authored more than 110 scholarly works, including journal publications, research reports, and conference papers and posters.

Reynen, who is Certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners, received his formal academic training from the University of Illinois Chicago (DrPH, Golden Key); California State University Sacramento (MA, GCert, MPPA, Sigma Phi Omega, Phi Kappa Phi); Loma Linda University (MPH, Delta Omega); and Pepperdine University (BS). Additionally, Reynen completed a fellowship with the California Epidemiologic Investigation Service.
