CHHS Alumna Mary Ann Friesen Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

CHHS alumna Mary Ann Friesen, ’08, received the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award during the Mason Alumni Association’s Celebration of Distinction on April 13.

Friesen, who earned her PhD in nursing in 2008, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, the nursing research and evidence-based practice coordinator for Inova Health System, and serves on the CHHS Advisory Board. She has more than 30 years of experience in nursing in a variety of roles, including clinical nursing, education, performance improvement, and consulting. Friesen has been published in a number of journals, is a frequent presenter at professional conference, and also supported the planning of the CHHS School of Nursing’s 40th anniversary celebration.

The recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award is selected based on their service and contributions to CHHS; involvement in George Mason University; career achievements and professional impact; professional, civic, educational, and/or honorary groups; special honors and recognition; and community, national or international distinction.
